Diani, 11/04/2025: The Kenya Plastic Pact is collaborating with Base Titanium Ltd to skill Community-based organizations engaged in #WasteManagement within Kwale County on Kenya’s waste management policy priorities, including the EPR Regulations gazetted in 2024 and businesses’ opportunities in waste-to-value activities. Over 70 participants drawn from over 20 CBOs and Beach Management Units are participating in the workshop hosted at Kisite Marine Park and Mpunguti Marine Park, Shimoni.
This workshop builds on the Pact’s ongoing efforts to reduce plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices. Previously, the Pact has driven impactful programs, including stakeholder sensitization workshops in Mombasa and Nakuru to raise EPR awareness and the #LetsBeClear consumer awareness campaign on making clear plastic packaging choices. It has also published a Roadmap to 2030, guiding Kenya toward recyclable or reusable plastic packaging by 2030, alongside design guidelines for PET bottle packaging and an #EPR guide for brands and Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs).
